Vintage Elegant Haute Couture Marque de Xavier Jouvin Brevet D' Invention 1834 Gants Rey Jouvin. Suede Kid Skin Opera Gloves. 2 Pairs. One pair is a very soft black with scalloped detail. The other pair are navy with white trim. They are small in size. I have average sized hands and these don't fit me. So they are for a woman with petite hands. Very nice used condition. Any questions, please message me. Thank you for looking. The ancient art of glove making became an industry in 1834, when
Xavier Jouvin of Grenoble, France, invented the cutting die that made possible a glove of precise fit. The
kid glove has retained supremacy as the aristocrat of gloves, but other kinds of leather are also utilized in modern glove manufacture, including capeskin, cabretta, pigskin, buckskin, reindeer skin, and lambskin, also called doeskin.
