    Description

View of the aft flight deck of the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVAN-65) in San Francisco Bay on 21 June 1966, returning from her first Vietnam cruise. Parked on the flight deck are aircraft from Attack Carrier Air Wing 9 (CVW-9) which flew 20,076 sorties (13,020 combat sorties), made 19,131 catapult launches and 18,142 arrested landings between 2 December 1965 and 5 June 1966.
Visible are 15 Douglas A-4C Skyhawks from Attack Squadrons VA-36 Roadrunners, VA-76 Spirits and VA-94 Shrikes. There is actually no aircraft visible from CVW-9's fourth A-4C-Squadron VA-93 Blue Blazers just the sign reading "VA-93 Blue Boozers". One A-4 has a drop tank on its wing, two have no tail code and one has the "NH" tail code from CVW-11. Parked behind the A-4s are a Grumman E-1B Tracer from Airborne Early Warning Squadron VAW-11 DET.M Early Eleven and two North American RA-5C Vigilantes from Heavy Reconnaissance Squadron RVAH-7 Peacemakers of the Fleet.
