Description
Handsome fold-out 1952 Esso road map of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware, printed more than 65 years ago.The map opens to 24" x 34" and has great detail on old street and highway alignments, prior to the creation of the Interstate Highway System, with cartography by the General Drafting Company.
There are inset plans of Richmond, Baltimore, Charleston, Wilmington, Williamsburg, Shenandoah National Park, and the James River area, as well as a colorful pictorial map of the four states.
The attractive cover artwork shows Francis Scott Key, author of "The Star Spangled Banner," at the bombardment of Fort McHenry in 1814, with Old Glory flying proudly.
The map was published by the Esso Standard Oil Company in 1952 and is dated in the legend.
Condition:
It is in very good condition, bright and clean, with a short route marked through northern Delaware and
no
