From a Connecticut Estate Auction comes this
1846 Print "NEWFOUNDLAND DOG” from "Anecdotes of Dogs" by Edward Jesse, W.R. Smith, Engraver and published in London by Richard Bentley in 1846.
In an 11” x 14” mat, the print is 6” x 8 1/4” and shows a Newfie near a shore looking out over an expanse of water while storm clouds gather above his head.
This has 2S penciled on the inside of the mat, presumably an old 2 shilling price. The print is in excellent antique condition with what I think is a very small roughly 1/4” long tear at the top and some age related toning along the edge of the paper.
